The master arrives at the plot, assesses the area, amount of leaves and debris, determines the complexity of the work.
We manually collect large branches, cones, and household waste to avoid interference with further cleaning.
We rake leaves from lawns, paths, and under trees into piles using rakes.
We use Stihl leaf blowers to blow leaves out of hard-to-reach places: between stones, under benches, along fences.
We collect leaves into bags using a vacuum shredder, reducing volume by 3 times.
We load filled bags into our vehicle for disposal or leave them on site as desired.
Optionally, we transport bags of leaves to the landfill for disposal.
We sweep paths and areas to keep the yard looking clean and well-maintained.
We use powerful Stihl and Husqvarna leaf blowers that allow us to collect leaves twice as fast as regular rakes. This reduces cleaning time and minimizes stress on the lawn. The equipment operates with adjustable power to avoid damaging plants.
All profi-clean masters are official employees who have undergone training. We take full responsibility for the quality of cleaning. Unlike freelancers, you get a guarantee and the ability to file a complaint.
We issue a receipt and sign a contract that specifies deadlines and a guarantee for leaf removal. If leaves remain after cleaning, we will redo it for free. The guarantee is valid for 1 year.
We use only soft rakes and leaf blowers with adjustable airflow. The vacuum-shredder does not damage plant roots. We ensure not to touch young shoots and flower beds.
You can order cleaning with leaf removal to the landfill or leave bags on the plot. Removal is included in the base cost for large plots, for small ones — an additional fee according to an individual tariff.
Our specialist will come to your plot in Almaty for free, assess the scope of work, and choose the optimal tariff. The visit is made within 1 day after the request.
All cleaners are profi-clean staff with training, uniform and security check. Each order has a team leader who controls quality.
Even after a thorough leaf cleanup on a property, individual leaves often remain. We’ve broken down the main reasons why this happens — from tool specifics to Almaty’s weather conditions.
After rain or heavy dew, leaves become wet, heavy, and press tightly against the lawn, paths, and soil. Standard rakes or leaf blowers simply slide over the wet layer without catching the lower leaves. In our experience on properties in the Gorny Gigant and Kamenka microdistricts, where fog is common in autumn, wet leaves have to be removed with a fan rake with fine tines, followed by blowing the lawn with a Stihl BR 600 backpack blower with a force of 12 N. If this isn’t done, the stuck leaves begin to rot under the snow within a week, forming thatch — a dense mat that blocks oxygen access to the grass roots. This is why, after leaf cleanup in wet weather, we always do a control pass with the blower an hour after the main collection — by then, the dried edges of the leaves are easier to detach from the ground.
On paths made of paving stones, clinker, or natural stone, leaves don’t just lie on top — they get packed into the 3–5 mm wide joints between the tiles. A blower removes large leaves, but debris and crushed fragments remain in the gaps. In Almaty, this problem is especially noticeable on properties in the Alatau microdistrict, where split granite with uneven edges is often used for paving — up to 30% of the total leaf litter by weight accumulates in such joints. For cleaning, we use a Karcher NT 48/1 industrial vacuum cleaner with a crevice nozzle and HEPA filter: it extracts debris from gaps up to 10 mm deep. If the joints are tightly packed, we first go over them with a garden knife or narrow scraper. Skipping this step is not advisable — over winter, moisture in the clogged joints freezes and expands the gaps, damaging the paving by spring.
Under tree canopies and in thickets of spirea, cotoneaster, or juniper, leaves accumulate in a dense layer that isn’t visible from above. Shrub branches make it difficult to reach with rakes or a blower, leaving leaves lying right at the base. On properties near the Botanical Garden, which has many mature oaks and maples, we record up to 5–7 kg of uncollected leaf litter in each tree circle with a diameter of 1.5 meters. The solution is to remove leaves from under shrubs by hand with thick gloves or with narrow fan rakes 25 cm wide. Our advice: don’t try to blow this area with the blower at maximum power — the air stream lifts the leaves, but they settle on neighboring bushes, simply moving the problem.
In Almaty, from September to November, southeast winds from the Ile-Alatau mountains prevail, carrying dry leaves 50–200 meters from their source. On open properties in the Koktobe and Samal-2 microdistricts, we’ve observed that 20–30 minutes after cleaning, a new batch of leaves from neighboring poplars and birches blows onto the freshly cleared lawn. Completely eliminating drift is impossible, but we reduce its effect: we clean leaves in calm weather (up to 3 m/s), starting from the leeward side of the property, and leave a windbreak — shrubs or netting along the boundary. If the wind picks up, we postpone the cleanup to the next day, because chasing flying leaves is pointless: you’ll collect 80%, but 20% will be blown back within an hour.
The leaf fall season in Almaty lasts from mid-September to the end of November, and different tree species don’t shed their leaves simultaneously. Birch and poplar lose their leaves in September-October, while ash and maple can hold their leaves until the first frost. If you clean the property once in mid-October, a week later there will be a new layer of fallen leaves from trees that haven’t yet shed. At profi-clean, we offer two or three cleanings with a 10–14 day interval during peak leaf fall, which practice confirms: on properties with 5–7 mature trees, a single cleaning leaves up to 40% of the leaves that fall later. Plan the first pass for when the trees have shed 60–70% of their leaves (usually late September to early October for Almaty), and the second two weeks later, when the bulk of the leaves have fallen.
On lawns that were not mowed before leaf fall, grass 5–7 cm high hides small birch and willow leaves. Visually, the area appears clean, but if you part the grass with your hand, you will find a 1–2 cm thick layer of rotting foliage underneath. This foliage is not visible during a quick inspection, but over the winter it rots and provokes fungal lawn diseases — snow mold and fusarium. In Almaty, we most often encounter this problem on properties in the Ainabulak microdistrict, where lawns are neglected by autumn. To avoid hidden leaf drop, we mow the lawn to a height of 3–4 cm a week before leaf collection, and then go over it with a fine-tined rake against the direction of grass growth — this combs the leaves out of the turf rather than pressing them into the ground.
Even after a visually clean collection, traces remain on the property that will show up within a week. We explain what to look for when accepting the work and how to distinguish a professional result from a superficial one.
At a quick glance, the area looks clean, but a detailed check reveals missed spots. The first area is the tree and shrub trunk circles. Leaves accumulate right at the trunk, where rakes cannot reach and a leaf blower blows them away. At profi-clean, we use manual collection and a narrow garden broom for these spots — this is the only way to remove leaves without damaging the root collar. The second area is the junctions of paths with the lawn and curbs. There, leaves compact into a dense layer that is not visible until you run your hand over it. The third area is storm drains, drainage grates, and gutters. Clogged leaves make themselves known after the first rain: water does not drain, the lawn gets waterlogged, and puddles form on paths. Before accepting the work, check these three points — if they are clean, the collection has been done thoroughly.
Leaves on the lawn are dangerous not only aesthetically: under a wet layer, the grass rots, turns yellow, and falls out in patches. A simple test: run your palm over the lawn in different places — you should not feel a damp, rustling layer under your fingers. If your palm remains dry and clean, the leaves have been completely removed. The second test is for “bare patches”: after the leaves are gone, the lawn should be uniformly green, without yellow patches the size of a palm. Bare patches are a sign that the leaves lay in a dense carpet for more than a week and the grass began to rot. In our practice, on properties where leaves were not collected from October, up to 20-30% of the lawn cover dies off by spring — and this is no longer a collection job, but lawn repair with reseeding. Therefore, at profi-clean, we do not just rake leaves; we do it at intervals of 7-10 days, preventing them from compacting.
High-quality leaf collection does not end with raking — the leaves need to be removed or disposed of. But not all leaves are waste. Healthy dry leaves without signs of mold or fungus can be left on the property for compost or mulching — they will decompose over the season and provide nutrients to the soil. Wet, rotten, fungus-infected leaves (with black spots, white coating, rust) must be removed — otherwise, fungal spores will overwinter in the compost and infect plants in the spring. At profi-clean, we sort leaves on site: we put healthy ones into a compost pile at the client’s request, and diseased ones into bags for removal. When accepting the work, check: if piles of leaves remain on the property, ask why they were not removed. If the reason is that the leaves are healthy and can be left — that is normal. If the leaves are rotten and were left “for later” — that is a defect.
Leaves are not the only plant debris on the site in autumn. Branches, cones, moss, fallen fruit — all of this must be removed if included in the order. Check under trees and shrubs: small branches up to 10-15 cm long often go unnoticed, especially if they are covered with leaves. Along fences and walls — moss and lichen accumulate there, which a leaf blower cannot remove. On the lawn — cones and acorns: they not only spoil the appearance but also damage lawnmower blades during the first mowing. At profi-clean, we include the collection of branches and cones in the standard leaf cleanup, but clarify this when ordering — some crews charge an additional fee for removing large branches. Our advice: during the handover, walk around the perimeter of the site with a rake — if in 10 minutes you have gathered more than a handful of debris, the cleanup was done poorly.
Autumn in Almaty is unpredictable: leaf fall can stretch over 2-3 months, and sharp changes in temperature and humidity alter the nature of the leaves. After rain, the leaves become wet, stick together, and become heavy — they cannot be removed with a leaf blower, only with rakes and by hand. After frost, the leaves become brittle, crumble when raked, and leave fine dust on the lawn that clogs soil pores. In dry, windy weather, leaves scatter to neighboring properties — simultaneous cleanup with neighbors or the installation of temporary mesh barriers is needed. At profi-clean, we adjust the cleanup method to the weather: in wet conditions — only manual collection, in dry conditions — a leaf blower followed by a check of the site boundaries. During handover on a rainy day, check that no soaked leaves remain on the paths, which have turned into a slippery mush — this is a tripping hazard. In dry weather, walk along the site boundary: if leaves have blown over to the neighbors, the cleanup is not complete.
After leaf cleanup on the site, individual leaves may remain in hard-to-reach places — this is not a defect, but a reason for a warranty return within 24 hours, and we clearly regulate what to do in such a situation.
If after our cleanup you notice accumulations of leaves under shrubs, at the junction of paths and lawn, in storm drains, or on the canopy roof — call within 24 hours of the crew’s departure. We send a cleaner back for free at a time convenient for you, usually the same day or the next morning. In Almaty, due to dense development and an abundance of fruit trees, leaves often get stuck in cracks near fences and under steps — our regular cleaners know these spots and go over them again with a leaf blower and manual collection. The guarantee does not apply to areas where leaves have fallen after our departure — for example, during strong winds in the evening hours. But we always warn about this during handover: in my opinion, it is more honest to say right away that within an hour or two the wind can bring a new layer, rather than creating false expectations. Fact: in the autumn season in Almaty, wind gusts of up to 15 m/s blow leaves from neighboring properties within 30–40 minutes — this is a normal natural process, not a cleaner’s oversight.
Leaves that fall after our departure are not a warranty case, and we explain this difference to the customer before starting work. In Almaty, trees shed up to 70% of their leaves within 2–3 weeks in autumn, and it is physically impossible to remove everything that will fall within an hour in a single visit. Our cleaners photograph the area before and after cleaning — these images capture the condition at the time of handover. If the photo shows a clean lawn, but 4 hours later the customer sees a fresh layer, this is a force majeure situation; we offer a repeat visit at a discount, but not under warranty. Practical tip: before calling, take a panoramic photo of the area with your phone — if it shows dry leaves under the tree crowns that were not in our photo, this is a warranty case, and we will visit for free.
Our standard: within an hour of the call, we confirm the visit and schedule a time. The cleaner arrives with the same tools — a Stihl BG 86 leaf blower, hand-held fan rakes, and bags. The repeat cleaning takes from 20 to 40 minutes, depending on the size of the missed area. We do not charge extra for a repeat visit, even if the client wants to remove leaves from a neighboring plot — that would be a new request, not a warranty. In our practice, there was a case: a customer in the “Akbulak” microdistrict called us back 6 hours after cleaning — it turned out that poplars behind the fence had dropped leaves onto their side, and we redid the work in 30 minutes at no extra charge because it was a warranty area under the tree crown that we had missed.
Leaf fall in Almaty is stretched from September to December due to altitude differences and the microclimate of the foothills, and the cleaning schedule is adjusted to the shedding phase, weather, and type of plantings — otherwise, the leaves compact and block the lawn.
A rainy autumn in Almaty (September–October averages 8–12 days with precipitation) makes leaves heavy and slippery — dry raking won’t work. At profi-clean, on such days we use leaf blowers with turbo mode and stirrer attachments that lift stuck leaves without damaging the lawn, and then immediately load them into bags: leaving wet leaves on the site even for a day is not allowed — they begin to rot and release fungal spores. Frosts below -5°C, which occur in Almaty as early as the end of October, make leaves brittle — during mechanical cleaning, they crumble into fine dust, clogging the lawn and paths. In such weather, we switch to manual collection with fine-tooth rakes and vacuum cleaners with HEPA filters to avoid spreading rotten dust around the site.
At profi-clean, we adjust the schedule to the leaf fall phase in a specific microdistrict: for plots in the lower zone (center, Bostandyk, Almaly districts), we recommend one cleaning at the end of October and one at the end of November, and for the upper zone (Medeu district, Tau-Samal) — three visits: early October, mid-November, and early December. When ordering, we consider the species composition of the plantings: if oaks and ashes predominate on the plot, we add leaf removal as a separate trip to avoid placing a slowly decomposing layer in the client’s compost bin. This seasonal adaptation reduces the risk of damage to the lawn and trees and fits within the standard tariff — without extra charges for complexity or urgency.
The quality of the final result directly depends on what you did before the cleaners arrive. I’ll explain how plot preparation reduces cleaning time and prevents damage to the lawn and paths.
In practice, we had a case in October: a client left a collapsible barbecue grill on the lawn, the cleaner didn’t notice it under a layer of maple leaves, resulting in a dent on the body — no replacement was demanded, but the cleanup had to be redone the next day. Before our visit, it’s easier to walk around the property and pick up anything you can lift by hand.
A lawn taller than 8–10 cm is the main reason leaves remain on the property after a leaf blower pass. Tall grass holds leaves near the roots, and the air stream simply flips them over instead of blowing them away. We’ve observed this on jobs in the Gorny Gigant and Alatau microdistricts: on properties with unmown lawns, the cleanup result is 30–40% worse by visual assessment compared to mown ones.
The optimal mowing height before leaf fall is 5–7 cm. If the grass is taller, profi-clean cleaners make a pass with a lawnmower equipped with a grass catcher (this is an additional service, not included in the basic leaf cleanup). However, it’s better to mow it yourself 2–3 days before our visit — during this time, the cut will dry out, and leaves won’t stick to the damp stubble.
Another nuance: on a wet lawn after rain, leaves stick to the stems, and the leaf blower can’t remove them. In Almaty, rain in October-November occurs on average 8–12 days per month — check the forecast and reschedule the cleanup for a dry period. Our hypoallergenic Kiehl and Sodasan chemicals are not used outdoors, but wet leaves still require manual raking, which increases the order cost by 20–25% due to extra time.
Hard surfaces — concrete, paving slabs, clinker — are not afraid of a leaf blower, but there are two exceptions. First: freshly laid paving slabs (up to 2 weeks after installation) — the joints haven’t set yet, and the air stream blows sand out of the gaps. Second: an old blind area with cracks — leaves get stuck in the crevices, rot, and destroy the concrete in winter when moisture freezes.
What we do before cleanup on such properties: we cover the cracks with painter’s tape or sprinkle them with sand 1–2 days before the visit. If the cracks are deep (wider than 5 mm), leaves are removed from them manually with a narrow dustpan — this takes 10–15 minutes of extra work for a property up to 15 acres. On sloped paths, the air stream is directed across rather than along — this way, leaves don’t clump at the lower edge but are immediately gathered into piles.
Before ordering leaf cleanup in Almaty, check the condition of the blind area: if there are chips or gaps, inform the profi-clean dispatcher — the cleaner will bring manual tools and won’t use the leaf blower close to the house to avoid widening the damage.
Some perennials and shrubs cannot tolerate mechanical contact with the air stream or rake. In Almaty gardens, these are most often:
What we advise: the day before cleanup, mark areas with such plants using stakes with bright tape — the cleaner will handle them manually with a dustpan or brush. On properties in the Medeu district, where there are many thujas and creeping junipers, we always ask clients to show the location of plantings — this saves 20–30 minutes on rework if a branch is broken.
